“A [married] woman must, when called upon, quit her devotions to God at the altar to find him in her household affairs.” Saint Frances of Rome
Have you ever noticed in scripture how men are being called up to the mountain? Moses. David. Even Jesus. God meets them there. But where do women meet with God? Jesus often met with women in their daily lives. At the well. Preparing meals. In the living room of their lives.
While we are not all [married], the above quote from St. Frances of Rome can apply to all of us. As a busy mother, she knew that women are often called away from their devotions at the altar, and called to see to the needs of another. That often means that our own needs and wants can come second, third, or thirtieth. Or sometimes not at all.
